I first tried with the dongle which wakes it as expected on my Linux desktop and my steam deck. Then I paired it with Bluetooth mode and was able to wake it without issue.

Valves new steam controller can wake the LCD stream deck over Bluetooth
Don't know if anyone has tried or if it's well known, but I did. There was a brief period where I could wake it with my Xbox series controllers but then valve pulled the feature for bugs which I never experienced.

Amazing, I tried it when I first got the controller and it didn't seem to work. I'll definitely give it another go because this would make things so much more convenient.

The recent SteamOS update reenabled wake on Bluetooth for the LCD model.

Is it the LCD model? Because valve pulled an experimental feature. It momentarily worked on my Xbox series controllers but then it was pulled. I don't know why, people claim the BT version can't support wake but that's obviously false.

How recent was that? Would love to be able to do that with my Xbox controllers

It hit the stable channel this week, so fairly recent (unless you're on the beta os)
