Konami Wants to Release New Silent Hill Games Every Year
Konami Wants to Release New Silent Hill Games Every Year
Konami wants to turn Silent Hill into a franchise with a new game arriving every year, according to series producer Motoi Okamoto. The company is also working on multiple unannounced projects as it continues expanding the horror series.
Speaking during Gamescom 2026, Okamoto said Konami's aim is to eventually have an annual release of new Silent Hill games. He stressed that this is an ambition rather than a confirmed release schedule, meaning the company has not announced a new Silent Hill title for every year ahead.
Still, Konami appears to be building its plans around having several projects in development at the same time. Okamoto confirmed that there are currently "many" projects being explored and worked on, although the company is not ready to reveal what those games are.
That leaves the identities of several future Silent Hill projects unknown. Konami has not provided their names, developers, platforms or release windows, so it remains unclear how the company intends to maintain the annual pace it is aiming for.
Konami Wants More Variety From Silent Hill
The company's plans also extend beyond simply producing more games. Okamoto explained that Konami does not want developers to remain tied to the franchise's traditional American setting, arguing that repeatedly using the same environment could eventually limit the stories that can be told and cause fatigue among players.
Recent entries already show that change in direction. Silent Hill f moved the series to Japan, while the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall takes place in Scotland. Konami appears comfortable allowing different development teams to approach the franchise through their own settings and styles.
This approach could give future Silent Hill games considerably more variety. Rather than requiring every project to follow the same formula, Konami is allowing different teams to approach the franchise through their own strengths, settings and styles.
More Silent Hill Games Are Already on the Way
Konami's current lineup already includes Silent Hill: Townfall, while the company is also developing a remake of the original Silent Hill. Beyond those publicly known projects, Okamoto's comments indicate that there are several other games that have yet to be announced.
For now, however, fans will have to wait for details. Konami has not revealed what those additional projects are or when they will be released.
For now, the annual release goal remains just that: a goal. Konami has not announced a yearly release schedule, but Okamoto's comments make it clear that the company is exploring a much more active future for the Silent Hill franchise.
