Nintendo's latest Indie World Showcase delivered release dates, new platform announcements and several surprises for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners. Among the highlights were a long-awaited date for Witchbrook, the arrival of Slime Rancher 2 on Switch 2, and a collection of free demos available to try.
Witchbrook finally gets a release date
One of the biggest announcements was the release date for Witchbrook. The magical life simulation game launches on January 28, 2027, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Players will take on the role of a young witch living in the seaside town of Mossport. Alongside studying at Witchbrook College, they can make friends, pursue relationships, explore the surrounding world and develop their magical abilities. Online multiplayer for up to four players is also planned.
With its cosy setting and focus on everyday life mixed with magic, Witchbrook could appeal to players looking for something more relaxed than a traditional action game.
Slime Rancher 2 is coming to Switch 2
Slime Rancher 2 is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2027. The sequel follows Beatrix LeBeau to Rainbow Island, where players can discover new slimes, gather resources and expand their ranch in a colourful world filled with secrets.
The announcement is good news for Switch 2 owners who have been waiting to play the sequel on Nintendo hardware. However, the game is being announced for Switch 2, rather than the original Switch.
A new adventure from a Celeste co-creator
City of None is another game worth watching. Developed by Noel and Liam Berry and published by Extremely OK Games, the team behind Celeste has a new action and puzzle-platforming adventure planned for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2027.
The game takes place in a strange metropolis filled with spirits, dangerous creatures and robots. Players will explore five distinct sectors, discover items that unlock new platforming abilities and fight enemies while trying to reclaim the city's future.
Long arms, chaotic golf and co-op horror
Not every game in the presentation took itself seriously. My Arms Are Longer Now is an unusual heist game in which players stretch their absurdly long arm through vents, under tables and out of windows to steal increasingly ridiculous loot. It launches on Switch and Switch 2 on March 11, 2027, and features a cast of 48 characters voiced by Australian comedians.
For multiplayer fans, Super Battle Golf mixes golf with sabotage, weapons and power-ups, allowing up to eight players to compete at the same time. It is scheduled to arrive on Switch 2 on March 25, 2027.
Co-op horror game R.E.P.O. is also coming to Switch 2 in 2027. Players must retrieve valuable objects from dangerous environments, using physics-based tools while trying to avoid the creatures lurking nearby. Teamwork matters, especially when a careless mistake can turn a successful run into a disaster.
Free demos are available now
Players do not have to wait until next year to try everything announced during the showcase. Nintendo confirmed that free demos for four games would arrive on the eShop on October 28:
- Haunted Paws, a co-op adventure starring two puppies exploring a haunted mansion.
- Petal Runner, a pixel-art adventure set in a colourful, solarpunk world.
- RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition, a roguelike built around a coin-pusher arcade machine.
- Winds of Viridia, an action-adventure featuring exploration, grappling and aerial movement.
Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services also launched on Nintendo Switch on the day of the presentation. The game lets players clean colourful environments alone or with friends in online co-op.
Another game arriving soon is Sword of the Sea, the atmospheric adventure from the studio behind ABZÛ and The Pathless. Its Nintendo Switch 2 release is scheduled for October 29, 2026.
A mixed reaction from viewers
Reactions to the showcase were divided. Some viewers praised the variety of games and said they had found several new titles to add to their wishlists. Others felt that many of the games looked too similar or were disappointed that the presentation did not include updates on their most anticipated releases.
Deltarune and Hollow Knight: Silksong were frequent topics in the discussion, with some viewers asking about the next Deltarune chapters or the Sea of Sorrow expansion. Their absence frustrated some fans, while others argued that Indie World is meant to showcase independent games rather than provide updates on every popular release.
Despite the disagreement, the presentation offered plenty of games to keep an eye on. Witchbrook now has a firm release date, Slime Rancher 2 is making its way to Switch 2, and several demos give players a chance to discover something new right away.
