Hello Games has released Forsaken (Update 7.10) for No Man's Sky, bringing a new batch of content to the space exploration game just in time for Halloween. The update introduces eerie discoveries, new Corvette customisation options, space courier missions and several quality-of-life improvements.
It also marks the game's first arrival on iPhone and iPad, bringing the full No Man's Sky experience to Apple's mobile devices.
Explore the darker side of the universe
Forsaken introduces strange biological discoveries known as haunting mementos. Players can find these unusual objects in infested outposts, deep-space hulks, derelict freighters and buried among the remains at planetary dig sites.
Collecting these items comes with a risk. Spending too much time around them can attract hostile boundary horrors, adding another threat to these already dangerous locations.
The collected mementos can be exchanged with Forsaken traders for exclusive rewards, including new Corvette components, a Larva Cannon Multi-Tool and a Larva Tank helmet appearance. Players can also unlock an exclusive player title.
New Corvette parts and space courier missions
Ship builders have several new options to experiment with. The update adds biomechanical Corvette modules, new cockpit designs and additional interior pieces, allowing players to create more unusual-looking spacecraft.
There is also a new way to earn rewards in space. Players with a Corvette and Gravitino Coil can accept courier contracts from deep-space outposts, transporting packages across the galaxy.
These missions give Corvette owners another activity to pursue, beyond exploration and ship customisation.
Seamless warping and a minimal HUD
Forsaken also introduces a couple of changes that affect everyday gameplay. Players can now target nearby stars directly from space and warp towards them without opening the Galaxy Map.
A new minimal HUD mode is available as well. It reduces on-screen information such as the compass, hazard protection bars and mission notifications, giving experienced players a less cluttered view of the universe.
Another useful addition is a radial selection menu for Multi-Tool modes. Instead of cycling through each available option, players can select the weapon or utility they need directly from the wheel.
No Man's Sky is now available on iPhone and iPad
One of the biggest announcements alongside Forsaken is the arrival of No Man's Sky on iOS. Hello Games has adapted the interface for touch controls and made changes to the mobile version with battery life and device temperatures in mind.
The iOS release includes the game's previous major updates, with Forsaken available from day one. Players can try the opening portion for free before deciding whether to continue.
According to Hello Games, the game can be tried on iPhone 11 models and newer, as well as third-generation iPad Air models and newer.
Updates 7.11 and 7.12 address early issues
Hello Games has already released two follow-up patches to address early issues with Forsaken. Version 7.11 arrived on Steam on October 29, fixing crashes when using the teleporter in the Anomaly and when warping to another star system.
Patch 7.12 followed on October 30 and is now available on PS5. It addresses the Anomaly teleporter crash, with the update expected to reach other platforms as soon as possible.
Forsaken is available as a free update for No Man's Sky. The complete list of changes can be found in the official 7.10 patch notes.
