Warcraft 3 has returned with a brand-new campaign. Blizzard has released Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom, taking players back to the fall of Lordaeron and the rise of the Forsaken.
And there is no waiting around. Forsaken Kingdom is available now.
A new story set in Lordaeron
Forsaken Kingdom takes players back to the aftermath of the fall of Lordaeron and explores the early days of the Forsaken.
The story follows the newly risen Forsaken as they break free from the Scourge and begin fighting for a future of their own. Sylvanas Windrunner is one of the key characters as the Forsaken attempt to establish a new home in the ruins of their former kingdom.
The campaign also explores the origins of the Undercity and connects the events of Warcraft 3 with the early history of World of Warcraft.
Back to the fall of Lordaeron
The campaign begins with a prologue set during the final days of Lordaeron before moving into the story of the Forsaken.
Players will revisit an important part of Warcraft's history while seeing the events from the Forsaken's perspective.
Blizzard says the campaign includes a prologue and three campaign chapters, along with a new neutral Forsaken Paladin hero unit.
A free update for Warcraft 3 Reforged
Forsaken Kingdom also arrives alongside the free Warcraft 3 Reforged 3.0 update.
The update introduces a new Definitive Edition graphics mode, giving players an upgraded visual presentation while keeping the original Classic graphics available.
Blizzard has also made improvements to the game's performance, visuals and World Editor as part of the update.
Players who already own Warcraft 3 Reforged can purchase Forsaken Kingdom separately, while new players can buy the campaign together with the base game.
Warcraft 3 gets a surprising new chapter
What makes the release especially surprising is how long it has been since Warcraft 3 received a new campaign. The Frozen Throne was released in 2003, making Forsaken Kingdom the first new Warcraft 3 campaign in more than two decades.
Warcraft 3 and The Frozen Throne helped lay the foundation for World of Warcraft, and Forsaken Kingdom now fills in another part of that history.
World of Warcraft: Forever will continue the story shortly after the events of Forsaken Kingdom when it launches on November 4, 2026.
For Warcraft 3 fans, there is no need to wait. Forsaken Kingdom is available now.
