Blizzard has officially revealed World of Warcraft: Forever, a new version of Classic WoW that takes the original Azeroth and pushes it in a completely new direction.
Rather than simply bringing back the same Classic experience again, Forever will add new zones, quests, dungeons, raids and a brand-new playable race. It will launch on November 4, 2026.
A new version of Classic WoW
World of Warcraft: Forever starts with the original version of Azeroth, but Blizzard is using it as a foundation for new stories and areas that never existed in the original game.
The level cap will remain at 60, allowing Blizzard to expand the world without simply pushing players into another level race.
At launch, players can expect more than 1,000 new quests, three new zones, nine additional dungeons and new raids designed for 10 or 20 players.
The new areas include Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle and the Riverglades, while the Darkspear Islands will also feature a new battleground.
Meet the Skyborne
Forever also introduces a completely new playable race called the Skyborne.
The Skyborne are a neutral elven race connected to Zephras Isle, giving players a new starting experience and another way to explore Azeroth.
Blizzard is also opening up new race and class combinations, including combinations that were not possible in the original World of Warcraft.
Azeroth gets a visual upgrade
While Forever is built around the classic version of WoW, Blizzard isn't leaving the technology untouched.
The game will feature improvements such as new lighting, global illumination, volumetric effects, improved water rendering and real-time shadows.
The result is still meant to feel like the original Azeroth, but with a more modern presentation.
The beta starts soon
Players won't have to wait until November to get their first hands-on experience. The World of Warcraft: Forever beta begins on September 17 and runs through October 21.
The full game launches on November 4, 2026 and is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time.
Blizzard is positioning Forever as a long-term home for players who want to keep exploring the original version of Azeroth while still getting new content.
