PC players may not have to wait as long for Grand Theft Auto VI as they did for previous Rockstar releases. According to a new report, the GTA 6 PC release could take place in the first quarter of 2027, just a few months after the game's planned console launch.
However, Rockstar Games has not officially announced a PC release date, so players should treat this reported timeframe as unconfirmed for now.
When Could GTA 6 Release on PC?
According to GamesBeat, Rockstar is planning to release the PC version of GTA 6 between January and March 2027. The report, published on October 13, cites four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans. All four requested anonymity, and Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat's request for comment before publication.
If the report proves accurate, PC players could get their hands on Grand Theft Auto VI only a few months after its console debut. That would be a much shorter wait than many players might expect based on Rockstar's previous releases.
For now, though, there is no confirmed launch date for the PC version.
GTA 6 Console Release Comes First
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not officially announced a release date for the PC version.
The reported Q1 2027 window would represent a considerably shorter gap between console and PC releases than Rockstar's previous major games.
Grand Theft Auto V originally launched on consoles in September 2013 before arriving on PC in April 2015, roughly 19 months later. Red Dead Redemption 2 also arrived on PC about a year after its original console release.
Rockstar's previous release schedules do not necessarily predict what will happen with GTA 6. If the latest report is accurate, however, the studio could be planning a much quicker PC launch this time around.
Has Rockstar Confirmed the GTA 6 PC Release Date?
No. Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed a PC release date for GTA 6. The Q1 2027 timeframe comes from GamesBeat's report and its four anonymous industry sources, rather than a public announcement from the developer.
That distinction is important. Although the report provides a specific release window, plans can change during development, and Rockstar has previously delayed GTA 6's release.
Until the company shares more information, PC players should consider early 2027 a reported possibility rather than a guaranteed release window.
What This Means for PC Players
Players deciding whether to buy a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S for GTA 6 may want to keep an eye on further announcements. If the reported PC release window holds, waiting for the PC version might not require the lengthy delay seen with previous Rockstar games.
However, there is not enough official information to make a firm decision based on a PC launch in early 2027. Rockstar could still announce a different schedule.
Mastanet previously estimated that the PC version might arrive around August or September 2027, based on Rockstar's release history. The new report suggests an earlier launch could be possible, but neither timeframe has been officially confirmed.
We will update this article if Rockstar announces an official PC release date or provides new details about the launch.
