I was wondering if the word “webmaster” is still even used nowadays. You barely hear it anymore. Back in the day on forums, people used to shout things like webmastahhh or mastaaaahhh, derived from “webMASTER”.
That’s where the name Mastanet also came from. “Masta” from master, “net” from network. Together: Mastahhh Network
But feel free to call it Masta Network, just Mastanet, or whatever you like.
At the beginning, before the site was public, it even had different names like PixelPlay, Gameke, and GameMascot. Looking back, they didn’t really fit the vibe of the site. Finding a good domain name wasn’t easy either… a lot of them were already taken.
While brainstorming, I kept thinking back to my old internet days, when people would shout mastaaaahhh or webmastaahh. That feeling fits this site perfectly, since it also covers old consoles, retro games, and classic PC hardware
And that’s how MastaNet was born
