Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be one of the most mature entries in Rockstar’s series yet. A now-deleted PEGI rating has revealed details about sexual content, interactive strip clubs, drug use and graphic violence, including the ability to snort cocaine directly from the player's hand.
Rockstar Games has never been particularly shy about controversial content, but Grand Theft Auto 6 could take things considerably further. The newly surfaced classification offers a closer look at just how mature the next entry in the series could be.
While the rating itself is no longer available, its descriptions have been documented by multiple gaming publications.
And some of the details go well beyond a simple warning about violence, drugs and sexual themes.
GTA 6 Will Feature Sex Scenes and Nudity
Will GTA 6 actually feature fully explicit sex scenes? (18+)
Despite its adult rating, players shouldn't necessarily expect GTA 6 to show everything. PEGI mentions sexual intercourse, nudity and interactive strip club activities, but it does not confirm whether visible genitalia or fully explicit sexual animations will be included.
There is also a big difference between showing a sex scene in a cutscene and letting players control sexual activity themselves in an open-world game.
Rockstar may be pushing realism, but surely there has to be a limit. Nobody wants to imagine developers getting a little too carried away with their work, especially when the bathroom breaks start taking suspiciously long.
For now, the exact level of sexual explicitness remains unknown.
According to the removed PEGI description, GTA 6 contains strong sexual themes, including nudity, scenes of sexual intercourse and occasional sexual fetishes.
The classification also reveals that players will be able to visit nightclubs where private dances can be purchased.
Unlike a purely cinematic interaction, these sequences reportedly allow players to move their characters' hands onto dancers' breasts and buttocks.
Nevertheless, the description suggests that Rockstar is retaining the adult themes that have long been part of Grand Theft Auto, while introducing more interactive elements.
Cocaine Can Be Used Directly From the Inventory
The drug-related details are arguably even more surprising.
PEGI describes drug use in GTA 6 as frequent and prominent, with players able to participate in drug use alongside other characters and consume illegal substances directly from their inventory.
One particularly specific example concerns cocaine.
According to the rating, players can carry cocaine and snort it directly from their hand at any time.
This suggests that drug consumption is not limited to scripted cutscenes or background activities.
However, the classification does not explain whether these actions affect character abilities, health, stamina or other gameplay systems.
Graphic Violence Includes Decapitation
The PEGI description also points towards a particularly violent experience.
Certain weapons can reportedly cause detailed decapitation and dismemberment, with the classification describing the violence as bloody and highly realistic.
The rating additionally mentions that domestic animals can be harmed by players, although the resulting injuries reportedly do not feature the same level of detail as those inflicted on human characters.
Combined with the sexual content and drug use, these elements explain why GTA 6 has received an adult-only PEGI 18 classification.
GTA 6 Has Also Received an ESRB Mature Rating
The American Entertainment Software Rating Board has separately assigned GTA 6 an M for Mature 17+ rating.
Its official content descriptors include blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong sexual content, strong language, mature humor and the use of drugs and alcohol.
The Australian classification system has also assigned the game an R 18+ rating, citing high-impact violence, sex scenes and drug use.
Although the PEGI listing was removed, the broader adult-content classification is therefore not dependent on that single listing.
Rockstar Has Yet to Explain These Features
What makes the rating particularly interesting is the level of interaction it describes. From private dances to drug use directly from the inventory, the classification raises questions about how much freedom Rockstar will give players in its next open-world adventure.
Instead, it is the level of detail surrounding how some of these activities will work during gameplay.
Being able to consume drugs directly from an inventory, alongside interactive private dances and scenes of sexual intercourse, raises questions about just how far Rockstar intends to push player freedom in its next open-world adventure.
For now, the rating provides a glimpse of what to expect, but it does not answer every question about the game's most explicit content.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
