After years of waiting, Bethesda has finally given its next major Elder Scrolls game an official name. The upcoming RPG is titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, and its reveal comes with a short teaser offering a glimpse of the world players may eventually explore.
The announcement was made on November 3, 2026, as part of a video celebrating the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Game Studios. Todd Howard introduced the reveal towards the end of the video, before the new title and logo appeared.
A New Look at The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel
Alongside the anniversary presentation, Bethesda released a separate teaser focused on the newly revealed title. Rather than showing gameplay, the short video takes viewers across a desert landscape, where shifting sand eventually reveals an ancient scroll.
The sequence ends with the official The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel logo. It is a brief reveal, but there are a few details worth looking at beyond the name itself.
Hammerfell Is Confirmed as the Setting
The teaser also contains a reference to Hammerfell, a province in Tamriel known as the homeland of the Redguards. The accompanying text is attributed to Yazar, a Moth Priest serving High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell.
Sentinel is a major city within Hammerfell, making the choice of title particularly relevant. Bethesda has also confirmed the game's location in its follow-up communication, putting an end to years of speculation about where the next adventure might take place.
Hammerfell has appeared in previous entries and related games within the franchise, but this will be the setting of the next mainline Elder Scrolls adventure.
Still No Gameplay or Release Date
While the official name and setting are now known, Bethesda has not shared any actual gameplay footage. The teaser focuses on atmosphere and the game's identity rather than showing how the RPG will play.
There is also no confirmed release date or launch window. Details about the supported platforms and other gameplay features have yet to be announced.
Bethesda has made it clear that more information will take some time, so players should not expect a full reveal just yet.
For now, The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel finally has an official name and a confirmed setting. After its original announcement in 2018, that gives fans something new to look forward to, even if the bigger questions surrounding the game remain unanswered.
