Pokémon Gets a New Stop-Motion Series From Aardman, Coming to Disney+ in 2027
Pokémon is getting a new stop-motion series from Aardman. Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu will premiere on Disney+ in 2027 as part of a new distribution deal between The Pokémon Company International and Disney.
The series is being produced by Aardman, the British animation studio behind Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run and Shaun the Sheep. It will use the studio's distinctive stop-motion animation style rather than the traditional animation used in the main Pokémon TV series.
The story follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they travel across the Galar region. Along the way, the two Pokémon try to help other Pokémon while getting caught up in various adventures.
First teaser revealed
The series was presented during Pokémon XP, where Aardman and The Pokémon Company showed new material and revealed the first teaser. Other Pokémon, including Impidimp and Appletun, will also appear in the series.
Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in 2027. The series will also air on Disney XD, although an exact release date has not been announced yet.
For Pokémon fans, this is a rather unusual collaboration: one of the world's biggest game franchises is being brought to life through the stop-motion techniques Aardman is known for.
