The Witcher 3 Remastered Launches September 29 as Songs of the Past Gets New Look
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026, bringing a major collection of visual, performance and gameplay improvements to CD PROJEKT RED's acclaimed RPG. The announcement was made during Gamescom Opening Night Live, where the studio also showed the first look at the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion.
The trailer is also available on YouTube. Because the video is age-restricted, viewers may need to sign in to YouTube to confirm their age before they can watch it.
The Remastered version will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a native version also coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The game will also be released through Battle.net as part of a new partnership between CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment.
The Witcher 3 Remastered launches in September
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered arrives on September 29 with improvements across visuals, performance and gameplay. Existing owners on qualifying platforms will receive the Remastered version as a free upgrade.
The upgrade includes enhanced visuals, improved combat, updated traversal and movement, new Witcher Sign effects, improved mount handling, enhanced monster behaviour and a revamped skill tree. The Remastered version also adds features such as transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishers.
The Witcher 3 comes to Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a native version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. This gives Nintendo players access to the upgraded version of Geralt's adventure on current-generation Nintendo hardware.
The game is also coming to Battle.net for the first time. Players who purchase the upcoming expansion through Blizzard's platform will also receive a special Geralt-inspired skin in Diablo 4, with more details planned for September.
Songs of the Past gets its first look
Alongside the Remastered announcement, CD PROJEKT RED showed the first look at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt โ Songs of the Past. The expansion is scheduled to launch in 2027 as a paid expansion for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
The expansion takes Geralt to Letten, a new region that initially appears to be an idyllic land filled with rural traditions and festivals. Beneath that peaceful surface, however, lies a dark secret and a long-dormant evil.
Geralt will face new enemies, reunite with old friends and gain new abilities during the adventure. The expansion also introduces a new weapon in the form of a chain.
Free expansions for existing players
CD PROJEKT RED also announced that all current owners of The Witcher 3 can now access the original Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions at no additional cost.
This gives players who have not experienced the two acclaimed expansions an opportunity to play them ahead of the Remastered release and the arrival of Songs of the Past.
