The Witcher IV Confirmed for 2028 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
The Witcher IV will launch in 2028 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. CD Projekt RED confirmed the release year while outlining its plans for the Witcher franchise around Gamescom.
The announcement comes from CD Projekt RED joint-CEO Michal Nowakowski, who also highlighted the studio's plans to show The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past during Gamescom.
A new Witcher saga
The Witcher IV is described by CD Projekt RED as a new saga with Ciri at the helm. The studio says more than 500 developers are working on the project.
According to the announcement, the game will feature a large open world, action-focused gameplay and a story built around Ciri's new role in the series. CD Projekt RED has not provided a more specific release date than 2028.
Coming to three platforms
The Witcher IV is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The announcement therefore confirms the platforms alongside the 2028 release window.
CD Projekt RED's statement also places the game within a broader period of activity for the Witcher franchise. The studio is preparing a substantial showing for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past at Gamescom, including a first full look at the expansion's new content and story.
