Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Could Be the Biggest Game in the Series Yet
Intelligent Systems is preparing a new entry in the Fire Emblem series: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026, the upcoming strategy RPG is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious games in the franchise, with a large story, a broad cast of characters, and plenty of content outside of its battles.
A Bigger Fire Emblem Adventure
Fortune’s Weave takes players into a world where the actions of individual characters can have major consequences for entire nations. The game features a large cast, with characters bringing their own backgrounds, motivations, and abilities to the story.
Intelligent Systems is also expanding the strategic side of the series. Characters can be developed and customized through different abilities and skills, giving players more freedom to build their teams around their preferred playstyle.
More Than Just Battles
Combat remains at the heart of Fire Emblem, but Fortune’s Weave is designed to offer plenty to do between battles. Players can explore the world, complete quests, develop their characters, and take part in additional activities away from the main storyline.
The combination of tactical battles, character development, exploration, and side activities could make this one of the most content-heavy Fire Emblem games yet.
A Detailed World
The game also aims to deliver a visually detailed world alongside its large cast of characters. Character designs and environments are being given plenty of attention, while the soundtrack combines orchestral music with traditional Japanese influences to match the game's setting and atmosphere.
Why Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Matters
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is shaping up to be an ambitious addition to the long-running strategy RPG series. With a large story, deeper character customization, and more activities outside combat, Intelligent Systems appears to be aiming for an experience that can keep players busy well beyond its main campaign.
For longtime Fire Emblem fans, the biggest question will be whether all that additional content can come together without taking away from the tactical gameplay that made the series so popular in the first place.
