No Rest for the Wicked's full 1.0 release has been delayed from October 2026 to March 2027. Moon Studios says the extra development time will be used to improve performance, tighten the game's class system and give the action RPG more polish before its full launch.
The game has been in Early Access on PC since April 2024, so the delay pushes its long-awaited 1.0 release further into 2027. The full launch is currently planned for PC and PlayStation 5, while the Xbox Series and Switch 2 versions are still planned for a later date.
More testing before launch
Moon Studios also has more testing planned before the full release. The studio will run additional closed beta tests in the coming months, followed by an open beta in December.
The tests will give players more chances to try the game and give feedback before the 1.0 launch. Moon Studios is also using the extra development time to work on performance, the class system and the overall polish of the game.
Combat is a big part of what makes No Rest for the Wicked stand out, with deliberate attacks, dodges and different weapons to experiment with.
There's also an interesting bit of timing here. No Rest for the Wicked was originally planned for October 2026, just about a month before Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19. Moon Studios hasn't said that GTA 6 had anything to do with the delay, though, so it's impossible to say whether the release schedule played any role in the decision.
Steam Deck players are in luck
There's also some good news for PC players who prefer handhelds. No Rest for the Wicked is currently listed as Steam Deck Verified, meaning Valve's compatibility checks have given it the green light for the handheld. SteamDB's current listing also shows the game as Verified.
The game has a controller tag on Steam, and the developers recommend playing No Rest for the Wicked with a controller. That's a recommendation rather than a requirement, so keyboard and mouse remain an option for PC players.
Almost 30,000 games are now listed as either Steam Deck Verified or Playable, giving Valve's handheld a pretty large library of compatible games. No Rest for the Wicked is in the Verified category rather than simply being listed as Playable.
For anyone waiting for the full version of No Rest for the Wicked, the wait is now a little longer. Moon Studios has chosen March 2027 instead of releasing the game in October, with more testing planned before the 1.0 launch.
